About the Role:
We are seeking a confident and skilled Midwife to provide continuity of care to women throughout the antenatal, labour, birth, and postnatal periods for those who birth at home, primary birth unit or hospital settings. This role requires a midwife who advocates for women in their pregnancy and birth journey, whilst ensuring a high standard of clinical care and collaboration with other maternity and healthcare providers.
As a Case Loading Midwife, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of 40-50 women per annum, delivering midwifery care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. You will practice as part of a wider team of caseload midwives with a primary birth unit as your base and across other Health NZ Counties Manukau maternity services as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Continuity of Midwifery Care: Support women through their pregnancy, labour birth and postnatal period, offering care 24/7, including telephone advice or in-person assessments for urgent issues.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Work closely with Health NZ Counties Manukau hospital and specialist services and other health or allied health professionals to ensure access to required care, including obstetric consultations.
- Quality Improvement and Risk Management: Demonstrate leadership in identifying quality improvement opportunities and participate in case review meetings and development of guidelines.
- Professional Development: Commit to your ongoing professional development, ensuring up-to-date knowledge in midwifery practice, cultural safety, and legal and ethical standards.
- Cultural Sensitivity and Diversity: Uphold the principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi, respecting a range of cultural beliefs and practices.
- Utilize IT Systems: Efficiently use clinical information systems such as i.PM, Clinical Portal, and BadgerNet.
Essential:
- NZ Registered Midwife with Current Midwifery Registration
- 2+ years recent midwifery experience in NZ, post registration
- Full and clean NZ driver’s licence
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and ability to maintain evidence-based practice.
- Strong commitment to quality improvement and professional development.
