  • Open to registered health professionals across nursing, medical and allied health within the Waikato District

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.

The Opportunity

Bring your clinical experience and understanding of how our services really work to this significant regional digital project!

This role is a key link between clinicians and the project team, helping ensure clinical requirements, patient safety, workflows and user experience remain central to planning, design and implementation.

Working alongside Digital Services, Clinical Informatics Directors and clinical stakeholders, you will support the consolidation of clinical portal capabilities across Te Manawa Taki, with a focus on safe, consistent clinical practice and reducing unnecessary variation.

We are looking for a commitment of around 0.3–0.5 FTE, and the role may be shared between more than one successful applicant. This provides an opportunity for different professional perspectives to contribute to the work and enables you to continue working in your clinical position alongside the project role.

About the Role

As Clinical Lead, you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership and advice to the project, ensuring clinical safety, quality and patient outcomes inform decision-making

  • Engage with Waikato clinicians and work collaboratively across Te Manawa Taki

  • Assess how proposed portal changes may affect clinical workflows and service delivery

  • Help identify and prioritise clinical requirements and portal enhancements

  • Provide clinical advice on benefits, risks, competing priorities and project sequencing

  • Act as a visible clinical champion, supporting engagement, change and adoption

  • Participate in clinical risk assessment, testing, validation and acceptance activities.

About You

You will be a registered health professional who understands clinical practice and can bring people together around change.

You will have:

  • Current registration with a NZ health professional regulatory body

  • Involvement in clinical systems, service improvement projects or digital health initiatives

  • Experience working across multidisciplinary clinical environments within the Waikato District

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and consensus-building skills.

Experience with clinical portals, electronic medical records or patient information systems, clinical or digital governance, change implementation or clinical leadership would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Successful applicant(s) will remain on their current terms and conditions and will reduce their clinical hours for dedicated time to this work. Dedicated project days/hours will be agreed so the project team has clarity about when successful applicants are available.
