Visiting Neurodevelopmental Therapist (VNT)

Community Child Health Takapuna

Fixed Term Part Time 0.6 FTE

  • We are looking for a Paediatric Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist who is experienced in working with infants and young children and has a passion for developmental therapy to join our community team.
  • You will be part of the multi-disciplinary Children’s Community Team, providing developmental support to infants and young children (0-2 years), in partnership with their family/whanau. Assessment and interventions are provided primarily in the community setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in the areas of neonates, early child development, and neurology is essential. Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.

About the Role

This role contributes to the provision of the Child Health Service and is collaborative, responsive to the needs of the clients and upholds the principles of partnership working.

As a Visiting Neurodevelopmental Therapist you will be working in a transdisciplinary model, providing developmental support to infants and young children with a wide range of developmental difficulties. 

Team work is an essential part of the role, working collaboratively with medical and other allied health professionals and community services.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team of VNT’s north and west are an integral part of our Community Child Health team.

Co-located in North Shore Takapuna you will work collaboratively with the MDT Including: Children’s Community Nurses, Paediatricians, Speech Language Therapists, Social and Cultural Case Workers, Dietitians, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

About you

As a Paediatric Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist you will need

  • To be a New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with a current NZ Annual Practising Certificate and current NZ drivers licence
  • Have at least 2 year’s post-graduate experience and experience working specifically with infants and children
  • A working knowledge of Family Centred Care with a positive energy to working closely with whānau
  • Experience working cross-culturally
