About the Role

The Cardiac Ultrasound Department is inviting applications for a trainee Cardiac Sonographers to join our team. Cardiovascular services provide care to a local and national population for interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and arrhythmia management, heart failure and adult congenital heart disease.

This role has elements of clinical instruction/practice and self-directed theoretical study by sitting the Post Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Ultrasound run by University of Auckland (UoA).

About the Team/Service/ Location

The position is primarily based at Auckland City Hospital, an 1165 bed teaching hospital. Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand is set in a pristine marine-based environment with a temperate climate and has a population of 1.5 million. It is a vibrant mixture of lifestyles and cultures and offers easy access to stunning and diverse scenery and a wonderful range of outdoor pursuits.

About you

  • The role should appeal to someone who is hard working and strives for excellent patient care. You must also demonstrate the ability and maturity to work in stressful situations. 
  • Excellent communication is essential, as well as the ability to work equally well as part of a team or solo.
  • You will be required to obtain registration as a trainee sonographer with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologist Board mrtboard.org.nz

Please note: Duration of the UoA programme is 2 years. Qualification must be achieved within fixed term employment time frame unless otherwise discussed by mutual agreement
