About the Role

This position exists to provide efficient administration support to the Te Ara Tiaki Pakeke team to ensure that clerical service requirements are met at all times as part of an administration team supporting nursing and allied staff. As a Healthy Ageing Service encompassing a number of teams, the day to day support of all functions of the service is the primary focus.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team of committed nurses, allied health professionals, and administrators, provide a pathway of care for the ageing population in Te Tairāwhiti.

Through community support and post-discharge care, we enable clients to maintain their independence and achieve their rehabilitation goals to safely return to their homes or avoid hospital admission altogether.

Te Ara Tiaki Pakeke assists older people to live well and age well with community supports to remain in their homes. To maintain their autonomy and enjoy a respectful later stage of life in welcoming, age-friendly communities.

About you

The successful applicant will be passionate about enabling the delivery of the highest standard of healthcare for older people in our community. You will enjoy working as part of a skilled team

  • An understanding of patient management systems
  • Client-focused with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Proven knowledge of all Windows-based applications
  • Proven keyboard skills ensuring speed and accuracy
  • The ability to create and maintain robust administrative processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven knowledge of the Privacy Act, and the Health Information Privacy Code
  • An understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and cultural awareness
  • Proven organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to prioritise appropriately
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to proofread and correct work
  • Ability to adhere to general departmental and operational policies and procedures
  • Ability to use initiative and be able to adapt to a changing environment
  • Proven ability to both work as part of a team and without supervision, showing self-motivation and initiative
  • A ‘can do’ attitude
