About the Role

  • Join the Surgical Department, as a training or non-training registrar, this is a fixed term, full time appointment to cover a vacancy in the department due to parental leave, with an expected start date, June 2026 for 6 months.
  • Enjoy the benefits of working in a smaller hospital, experience general and acute medicine, with a supportive team of consultants, house officers, medical students and nursing staff. Your roster will allow for you to enjoy all that Rotorua has to offer with longer summers and shorter winters.

About the Team/Service/ Location

  • You’ll join a collaborative peer group of six registrars. We pride ourselves on a culture of mutual support and shared learning.
  • You’ll be backed by a dedicated team of House Officers and a proactive nursing staff who know the wards inside out.
  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of General Surgical Consultants who are committed to teaching. You’ll get the "right" amount of autonomy, backed by senior support when the pressure is on.

About you

You will have:

  • MCNZ registration and or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
  • a minimum of two years' post qualification experience, and a keen interest in providing acute and general medical care to our community.
