About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist to join community physiotherapy team covering Cambridge and surrounding areas seeing clients under the Supported Transfer and Accelerated Rehabilitation Team (START). This role includes visiting patients in their home and assessing, treating and managing a range of varied clinical presentations. 

This role would suit an experienced physiotherapist with the ability to independently manage a varied clinical caseload. Working as part of the START team you will assess and provide rehabilitation programmes, helping patients regain independence and transition safely from hospital to home. The role requires the successful applicant to be adaptable to change, resourceful and flexible to service needs and to have a genuine passion for working with patients and their whānau on their health journey.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality physiotherapy services to referred clients and be responsible for treating patients/service users with respect, dignity, and compassion.
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude and commitment to the team, practising within your scope of practice and ensuring effective communication occurs at all levels to achieve service objectives.
  • Ensure the physiotherapy service delivery is enhanced and maintained.
  • Provide agreed education and training for staff, physiotherapy students, clients and carers/ whānau.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation.

About the Service

The Physiotherapy service has approximately 90 staff including Physiotherapists, assistants and administrators that work across the large geographical area that is Te Whatu Ora, Waikato. We have staff based at Waikato Hospital, our secondary hospital in Thames and our 3 rural hospitals in Tokoroa, Te Kuiti and Taumarunui and across our many community bases in areas such as Morrinsville, Matamata, Cambridge, and Ngāruawāhia.

Our vision is to provide quality physiotherapy care to promote, encourage and enable health, wellbeing and independence for the patients and Whanau in the communities we serve. Our mission is to ensure that patients receive excellence of care, that our staff are supported and trained to work and maintain levels of evidence-based practice and that our service is equitable, efficient and effective to meet the needs of our patients and their Whanau. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, supportive team who are keen to grow and develop our staff.

 

About you

  • NZ physiotherapy registration, and a current annual practising certificate.
  • Current valid full New Zealand driver's licence.
  • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of the physiotherapy and wider multi-disciplinary team across a variety of environments.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with patients, their whanau, and other health care professionals.
  • Experience working in a community physiotherapy setting is desirable.
