Health New Zealand - Counties Manukau Radiology is located in South Auckland across Middlemore Hospital, Kidz First Children's Hospital and Manukau Health Park (MHP) and is at the forefront of innovative health care delivery with the New Zealand Public Health Sector. Middlemore Hospital includes the National Burns Centre and is a major trauma hospital specialising in spinal and plastics. Our busy department serves a diverse community and is rapidly growing with planned expansion, including new premises at MHP opening in 2026.
Our Radiology department is large and diverse with state of the art medical imaging equipment that includes:
- 13 General x-ray rooms, all with DR
- Two dedicated Angiography suites
- A specialist Radiology Theatre service with 3D O arm imaging and flat panel image intensifiers
- Five CT scanners performing acute and elective CT scans, including Cardiac CT
- 3 MRI Scanners 3T and 1.5T MRI scanners
- 2 Cardiac Catheter suites

About the Role
This is a shift-working permanent part-time position of 64 hours per fortnight available from January 2026. The successful applicant will need to hold an APC in Medical Imaging Technology scope with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologist Board.
Imaging across outpatients, emergency, ward and critical care patients you will be provided with protocols and equipment training. You will be expected to interpret referrals and apply your clinical decision-making skills to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The MIT Team works across Cath Lab, IR, CT, Theatre, MRI and General X-ray. All staff MIT working in a speciality retain their general x-ray skills. The staff and students are supported by the MIT Team Leader, Modality Leads and 2ICs.
Middlemore Hospital and Kidz First Children's hospital are located in Otahuhu, whilst our outpatient clinics and day surgery centre is located in Manukau, a short distance from our main site.
About you
We welcome applications from new graduates, MITs about to complete MRI post-graduate study or an experienced MITs that hold both MIT and MRI scopes of practice. The successful candidate will need to be adaptable with a focus for high-quality service delivery and support junior colleagues and MIT students.
