About the Role

As an experienced Speech-Language Therapist you’ll play a key role in the assessment and treatment of patients with communication and swallowing difficulties in our inpatient wards. This is a rewarding opportunity to apply your expertise in a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary environment. You will manage a varied caseload, develop personalised therapy plans, and work closely with whānau to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.

You’ll work in partnership with other healthcare professionals and contribute to continuous service improvements that promote equity and access for all.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Allied Health Therapies team is a passionate and skilled group committed to patient-centred care, clinical excellence, and cultural safety. Based in Hawke’s Bay, our inpatient service supports a diverse community, ensuring clients receive high-quality, responsive support throughout their healthcare journey. You will be working with, and as part of, an extremely supportive team of health professionals providing an evidence based service, including cough reflex testing, videofluoroscopy with TIMS, and a well-established FEES service.

About you

As a Speech-Language Therapist, you will bring:

• A Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Speech-Language Therapy recognised by the New Zealand Speech-Language Therapist’s Association (NZSTA)

• Registration with the NZSTA and a current Annual Practising Certificate

• Clinical experience relevant to acute inpatient settings

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with some experience in supervising staff and students

• A full NZ driver’s licence and a strong commitment to working in partnership with Māori

• VFSS level 3 or above, FEES level 3 or above, Trache level 3 or above

• Surgical Voice Restoration / Laryngectomy experience
