About the role

We are looking for a Specialist Cardiac Sonographer to join our talented team with our Paediatric Congenital and Cardiac Services at Starship which is the only service of its kind in New Zealand. This is a full-time, fixed term (12 months) position to work on an externally funded research project.

The Specialist Cardiac Sonographer deliver high quality, advanced clinical practice and contribute to key performance areas such as education, training, research and quality assurance.

About the Service

The Specialist Cardiac Sonographer works across the paediatric and adult inpatient, outpatient, community and outreach services across all sites where cardiac sonography services are delivered.

The Paediatric and Congenital Cardiac Service (PCCS) is a national service and is the only provider of cardiology and cardiac surgery services for infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease in New Zealand.

About you

As the ideal candidate for this role you will have:

  • A current APC and registration with NZ MRT Board.
  • A strong commitment to quality healthcare.
  • Post-graduate Diploma of Medical Ultrasound or Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Ultrasound (or equivalent as recognised by MRTB) or higher relevant post-graduate level qualification
  • Recent experience in a tertiary hospital (minimum two years)

Desired:

  • Leadership and/or management training
  • Qualification in project management or other service improvement methodology
  • At least five years’ post qualification experience as a cardiac sonographer
