About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Paediatric Pain Medicine Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at Starship Children’s Hospital – New Zealand’s premier tertiary paediatric facility. This is a permanent position with flexible FTE options and we welcome interest from both local and international candidates.
In this role, you will work within the Paediatric Complex Pain Service, collaborating with a highly skilled team including a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Specialist Nurses, Physiotherapist, and Occupational Therapist. You will contribute to both community-based outpatient care and complex inpatient pain management, supporting children and adolescents with chronic and complex pain conditions.

About You
We are looking for a specialist who brings:
- Proven expertise in managing chronic and complex pain in paediatric and adolescent populations
- Experience working within an integrated, multidisciplinary pain service
- A collaborative and compassionate approach to care
Qualifications and Registration Requirements:
- Vocational registration (or eligibility) with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- FFPMANZCA or equivalent preferred
- Alternatively, you may be a vocationally registered Paediatrician, Paediatric Surgeon, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, or Anaesthetist with additional training and/or experience in pain medicine
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand is essential. Preference will be given to NZ citizens residents in line with employment regulations, though overseas applicants are encouraged to apply.
