Senior Project Manager - Portfolio Management Office

About the Role
This is a senior project leadership-level project role within the Portfolio Management Office, accountable for delivering large-scale, high-risk, multi-disciplinary projects that enable critical hospital capacity and service transformation.
You will take end-to-end ownership of complex programmes, from business case development through to implementation and post-delivery evaluation, ensuring delivery to time, budget, and agreed benefits realisation.
Success in this role is measured through your ability to:
- Deliver programmes on time, within budget, and aligned to approved business cases
- Lead multi-stream project delivery, ensuring strong governance, reporting, and stakeholder visibility
- Identify and proactively manage risk, issues, and interdependencies across complex environments
- Set up projects, and project teams, for success to achieve project benefits and health outcomes
- You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, clinical leaders, and regional/national investment bodies and delivery functions, ensuring alignment and successful delivery across the wider system.

About you
You are a high-performing senior project leader with a proven track record in delivering complex programmes in large, matrix organisations.
You will bring:
- Proven ability to lead complex project and programmes, end-to-end - delivering successful outcomes across major capital investments and technology implementations
- Demonstrated success delivering multi-million-dollar programmes within governance, scope, and funding constraints
- Strong expertise in business case development, programme planning, and benefits realisation
- Advanced stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive and board level
- Experience managing risk, complexity, and competing priorities while maintaining delivery momentum
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
You’ll also bring a delivery mindset, accountability for results, and the ability to lead through ambiguity and change.
