About the Role
As a Senior Pharmacist for Medicine Information within the Quality and Safe Use of Medicines Team, you will help lead the delivery and development of our medicines information service, as well as contribute to supporting medicine management and safe use of medicines across the organisation. There may also be an option for a small clinical (ward-based) component to the role.

Key responsibilities of the role:
- Research and respond to medicine information queries from a range of health professionals.
- Lead the development of our medicine information service.
- Be involved with other medicines management, medication safety and quality improvement work.
- Build relationships with other Health New Zealand medicines information pharmacists.
- Mentor and train pharmacists, intern pharmacists and students.

About the Team/Service
Pharmacy Services at Waikato Hospital provides services to the hospital and to six smaller rural hospitals and care units across the Waikato region. The pharmacy service is divided into five services: Clinical Services, Dispensary and Supply, Oncology, Haematology and Compounding Service, Quality and Safe Use of Medicines (QSUM) and our onsite community pharmacy service (Pharmacy on Meade).
You will be a member of the QSUM team, but as part of the wider pharmacy team you will also interact and work with pharmacy staff in the other teams. As a member of the wider pharmacy team, you will contribute to the in-patient dispensary as needed, with occasional involvement in weekend rosters.
About you
Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
Essential
- Registration with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand.
- A current annual practising certificate with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand (or able to register once period of supervision undertaken, as required by PCNZ).
Highly Desirable
- At least 3 to 5 years of post-registration pharmacy experience, with three or more years in hospital
- Experience in the provision of medicines information
- Involvement with medicine safety initiatives
- Post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy
- Effective communicator with excellent organisational skills
- Experience leading or training others
