    Are you an experienced pharmacist with a passion for medicines information? Join our Pharmacy Services team at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, Waikato, where you can make an impact on patient care while advancing your career.

    As a Senior Pharmacist – Medicines Information, you will lead the development and delivery of our medicines information service. Day to day you will be working within the Quality and Safe Use of Medicines (QSUM) team in the pharmacy department, with a focus on the provision of medicine information, overseeing medicines information and safety resources, and being a key contact for our information service. Using your clinical, research skills and communication skills, you will also contribute to medicine safety initiatives and other QSUM work.

    Key responsibilities of the role:

    • Research and respond to medicine information queries from a wide range of health professionals.
    • Lead the development of our medicines information services and safety initiatives.
    • Build relationships with other medicines information pharmacists across the country.
    • Collaboration with other health professionals
    • Explore the integration of innovative technologies and data management into the medicines information service.
    • Mentor and train pharmacists, interns and students.

     

    The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the APEX Pharmacy Collective Agreement. Additional benefits include kiwisaver contributions (if eligible), professional development and wellness support.

    About the Team/Service

    The Te Whatu Ora Waikato Pharmacy Service provides essential pharmacy services to Waikato Hospital and rural hospitals, as well as tertiary advisory and support services to the Te Manawa Taki region. Our team is vital to the effective operation of healthcare, upholding the highest standards in pharmaceutical supply, medicines safety, and clinical services. With an outpatient pharmacy, a robust clinical trials service, and a compounding suite, we offer a diverse range of services that truly set us apart.

     

    About you

    Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

    Essential

    • Registration with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand.
    • A current annual practising certificate with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand.

    Highly Desirable

    • At least 5 years of post-registration pharmacy experience, with at least 3 years in a hospital or clinical setting, or equivalent.
    • Experience in the provision of medicines information and medicine safety initiatives
    • Post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy.
