We are looking for a Specialist Gastroenterologist to join our highly skilled, multidisciplinary team at Waikato Hospital; the largest gastroenterology service in the Central North Island, offering advanced procedures, specialist clinics, and opportunities for research and teaching.

About the Role

In this role, you’ll be an integral part of our department’s daily operations, contributing to clinics, endoscopy, and ward duties, along with participating in the on-call roster.

Beyond the clinical work, there’s a real opportunity to shape the future—through teaching, ongoing medical education, and quality improvement initiatives.

We’re particularly keen to hear from those with a subspecialty interest in inflammatory bowel disease, as we continue to respond to the growing needs of this community. Equally, expertise in general gastroenterology and hepatology would be highly valued.

Our focus is to continuously evolve our services to better meet the needs of our patients. That’s why we’re looking for someone who brings not only clinical skill, but also a strong commitment to patient-centred care, service development, and collaborative teamwork.

The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the ASMS SECA agreement. Additional benefits include KiwiSaver contributions (if eligible), shift allowances, professional development and wellness support.
