About us:

The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service, or the Mason Clinic as it is often known, is the largest Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand. We serve the four Northern Districts Health Boards including all courts in the northern region and five prisons.

The Service delivers clinical pathways support recovery, enable tāngata whai i te ora and whānau involvement and are anchored in the recognition of principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (kawanatanga, ritenga, oritenga, and mana Motuhake).

About the role

This Security Officer role provides a pivotal service in the daily running of the site so the successful applicant must be able to work with the team to provide a safe, efficient and high-quality customer-focused service. The role is non-clinical in nature with minimal patient contact, and key responsibilities include access control, CCTV monitoring, X-ray scanning, carpark and site management to prevent or minimise risk or threat to site. The role provides a visible and practical security presence while providing a flexible, high quality service to the Mason Clinic site extending care and consideration to patients, staff and visitors.

About you

The nature of this role is partly responsive/reactive so we're looking for people who can work calmly under pressure and be able to respond to emergencies and challenging situations that will require prompt and appropriate action in a courteous and respectful manner.

Applicants should have the ability to: 

  • Operate security equipment and systems effectively
  • Be computer literate
  • Write clear and concise reports 
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records 
  • Communicate effectively with excellent verbal and written skills

Applicants must also have

  • At least 12 months of relevant experience
  • A current full and clean driver's license
  • A good level of physical fitness
