About the Role

Working within a fast paced and complex hospital environment, you will be responsible for helping maintain a safe and secure setting across our Tauranga Hospital site. This includes monitoring behaviour, managing high risk incidents with professionalism and empathy, supporting staff, and ensuring the wellbeing of patients and visitors. No two days are the same, and your ability to stay calm under pressure will be your superpower.

This permanent full time role will include working weekends and shifts (morning, afternoon, and overnight), so flexibility and resilience are essential.

About the Team/Service/ Location

You will join a hardworking, close-knit team of Security Officers who bring a strong sense of duty, manaakitanga, and community spirit to their mahi.

Every member of the team plays a key role in supporting frontline healthcare delivery – responding to incidents, de-escalating situations, and offering visible support and protection. It's not just about safety, it's about creating a place where staff and patients feel supported, respected, and secure.

About you

You will bring a calm and confident presence, excellent communication skills, and a people first approach. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being active, thrives on variety, and understands the importance of empathy in complex healthcare environments.

What you will bring:

  • Previous security, corrections, military, or emergency services experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to stay composed and respectful in challenging situations
  • Strong verbal communication and de-escalation skills
  • A genuine desire to help and protect others
  • Full NZ driver's licence
