About the Role

Make a lasting impact in the lives of tamariki by delivering early mental health intervention and wellbeing support within school environments. Working within the Learning Support Delivery model, you will identify mental health and wellbeing needs, provide evidence-based interventions, and strengthen resilience through individual, whānau, and group-based support. This role offers the opportunity to work creatively and collaboratively to improve outcomes for tamariki in Years 1 to 8.

About the Team/Service/Location

Tīhore Mai I Uta Tīhore Mai I Tai is an innovative school based mental health service delivering early intervention support to tamariki across the Bay of Plenty. The multidisciplinary team includes registered mental health professionals and support workers who provide individual, whānau, and group-based interventions within kura/schools. Working in partnership with iwi and hapū providers, educations services, community organisations, and government agencies, the service is committed to delivering coordinated, culturally responsive care. Based within Primarily based in the Northern Cluster (Te Puna to Katikati), this role offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing service focused on improving wellbeing outcomes for tamariki and whānau.

About You

You are an experienced Child and Adolescent Mental Health Professional who is passionate about supporting tamariki, whānau, and school communities. You bring strong relationship building skills and enjoy working collaboratively with educators, community partners, and families to support positive wellbeing outcomes.

What you will bring:

  • Registration with a relevant professional body such as a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Experience working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
  • Strong assessment, intervention, and care planning skills
  • Experience working with tamariki, whānau, and community partners
  • Ability to deliver individual, whānau, and group-based interventions
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Understanding of culturally responsive practice and working with diverse communities
  • Commitment to early intervention, prevention, and evidence-based practice
