Neurogenetics Research Unit, Te Toka Tumai Auckland

Part-time (0.4 FTE) Senior Nurse role

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are seeking a Research Nurse Coordinator with strong leadership and advanced nursing skills to run Neurogenetic trials in the Neurology Department at Auckland City Hospital Te Whatu Ora - Te Toka Tumai. The Research Nurse Coordinator will initially lead the day-to-day work in our existing Huntington’s disease studies but, with the rest of the team, will facilitate and coordinate the establishment of new clinical trials for people with Huntington’s disease and other Neurogenetic conditions. The Research Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for the overall organisation, planning and implementation of Neurogenetic clinical trials based within the department. Applying your expert knowledge and experience, you will co-ordinate the delivery of clinical trial interventions and procedures which may require working with other departments in the hospital. You will need to work autonomously, but will be part of a research team and supportive senior nursing team committed to effective/evidenced based research practice. 

The Research Nurse Coordinator acts as a resource for clinical personnel and participants by providing information concerning current and future studies, and is responsible for ensuring the primary principles of Good Clinical Practice are adhered to.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

As the ideal candidate for this role you will: 

  • Be a registered nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) 
  • Have current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification 
  • Have extensive work experience in running clinical trials from set up through to completion. 
  • Be committed to equity principles. 
  • Be highly self-motivated. 
  • Have a personal commitment to on-going learning especially in the Neurogenetic pace  
  • Have knowledge of quality improvement processes and principles 
  • Have previous experience with PowerPoint, Word, Excel and database entry 

Desired skills:

Have a post graduate qualification. 

  • Be familiar with working in Health New Zealand 
  • Have previous experience in REDCap database design, data input, and report generation
