About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our skilled Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) team. This is a permanent, part-time position (0.9 FTE) based at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital.
In this role, you’ll be part of a dedicated team providing post-operative care to patients recovering from anaesthesia following surgery or procedures. You'll use your clinical expertise to monitor patients’ vital signs, manage pain, and respond swiftly to changes in condition – ensuring safe and effective recovery.
This position is well suited to a nurse with excellent critical thinking and assessment skills, who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The PACU team is a supportive, multidisciplinary group of nurses, anaesthetists, and theatre staff who are passionate about high-quality perioperative care.
Located within our modern theatre suite at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, the PACU plays a critical role in the surgical journey, supporting a wide range of specialties and procedures.

About you
You are a registered nurse with recent acute care or PACU experience and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care. You’re calm under pressure, clinically confident, and work well within a collaborative team environment.
You will bring:
- A current NZ Registered Nurse Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
- Post-operative or acute clinical care experience (PACU or ICU/ED experience is an advantage)
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- A commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and providing culturally safe, equitable care
- A positive, can-do attitude and a desire to contribute to a high-performing team
