About the Role
As a Registered Nurse on OPR2, you will work with patients across key specialties including , diabetes management, renal, vascular, medical , surgical, orthopaedic and general medical patients all requiring specialised geriatric care in the Assessment , Treatment & Rehabilitation journey . The role involves delivering safe, evidence‑based nursing care, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting patients through assessment, treatment, and recovery.
Nurses on OPR2 work rostered, rotating shifts to maintain consistent 24/7 care. The environment is fast‑paced and clinically diverse, supported by an experienced and adaptable team. Collaboration, clear communication, and strong clinical judgment are essential, and you’ll be part of a unit that values teamwork, professional growth, and high‑quality patient outcomes. Experience in an acute hospital setting with no less than 4 years experience is preferred. You’ll need to be comfortable working rostered and rotating shifts, and able to stay calm and focused in a busy environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred nursing care
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with a range of medical conditions
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns when needed
- Administer medications and treatments in line with clinical guidelines
- Support patients with respiratory therapies, including oxygen and non-invasive ventilation where required
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care
- Provide education and support to patients and their families
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Promote a safe working environment and adhere to infection control practices
- Participate in ongoing learning and professional development

Ward OPR2 is a 28-bed Assessment , Treatment & Rehabilitation ward caring for adult patients with a range of multiple complex conditions. We work closely with multiple specialist teams across the organisation to provide safe, supportive, and focused care throughout each patient’s stay.
Staff on OPR2 work rostered, rotating shifts to ensure consistent 24/7 care. The team is experienced, adaptable, and committed to supporting each other in a busy but collaborative environment.
About you
Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role: Current APC and registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand
- Minimum of 4+ years nursing experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong team player
- Good time management & ability to work autonomously
