Theatre Nurse – Greenlane Surgical Unit (General + Ophthalmology)

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Perioperative Theatre Nurses to join our dedicated team at Greenlane Surgical Unit (GSU).

GSU is the referral centre for New Zealand and the Pacific, managing a wide variety of General and Ophthalmology cases – from straightforward procedures through to complex and acute cases.

Within ophthalmology, we provide services across a range of sub-specialties for both adult and paediatric patients, with a specialised ophthalmology ward offering both day-stay and overnight care.

This role offers the opportunity to work in modern facilities alongside a supportive and skilled team committed to delivering excellence in patient care.

About You

We welcome applications from Theatre Nurses with experience in either General perioperative practice or Ophthalmology perioperative care:

General Perioperative Pathway

  • At least 2 years of perioperative theatre experience
  • Current New Zealand Nursing Council registration with a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • Positive, adaptable, and innovative approach to practice
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary perioperative team
  • Strong commitment to providing safe, high-quality patient care

Ophthalmology Perioperative Pathway

  • At least 1 year of ophthalmology perioperative theatre experience (adult and/or paediatric)
  • Current New Zealand Nursing Council registration with a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • Ability to work across ophthalmology sub-specialties in both day-stay and inpatient settings
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a specialist multidisciplinary environment
  • Dedication to delivering excellent care to patients and whānau with diverse and often complex needs
