We have an opportunity for one motivated, registered nurse to join the Older Persons Assessment and Liaison (OPAL) team.

About the Team/Service

OPAL is a progressive team of nurses who assess patients in the acute care setting, for continuing care needs, including rehabilitation. The OPAL team facilitates patient flow through the Organisation.

About Hamilton

Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital in Hamilton and is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand, serving as the regional hub for the Midland area, which includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. About you

To be an effective OPAL nurse, the following skills an experience are required:

  • Critical thinking and the ability to make comprehensive assessment of patients with complex needs.
  • Sound clinical knowledge about gerontology and rehabilitation.
  • As a frontline ambassador for the service, excellent communication skills that will enable you to develop positive relationships with a number of services across Waikato Hospital.
  • Experience in a leadership role or demonstration of PDRP proficient/expert (or equivalent) as an advantage.
