About the Service
The Waikato ED is the major regional referral and trauma centre for the Midland region. We see approximately 85,000 patients per year with a broad case mix of presentations from paediatrics to geriatrics, medicine to trauma – there is no aspect of emergency medical care we do not provide.

Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital in Hamilton and is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand, serving as the regional hub for the Midland area, which includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. With around 722 inpatient beds, 22 operating theatres, and a dedicated outpatient clinic and procedure centre, Waikato Hospital provides comprehensive hospital services, including radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy. About you
You will:
- have a current annual practising certificate or be eligible to gain one.
- have the eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- as the ideal candidate, have a minimum of 2 years of recent post-registration experience in emergency or acute care nursing.
- demonstrate commitment to customer-focused service delivery.
- exhibit highly effective communication skills.
As this is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same, you will be able to work autonomously whilst still being a team player!
