  • This is an exciting role for a registered Midwife, with a passion for providing antenatal/postnatal cares to whanau.

About the Role

We have a position available for a registered midwife to deliver antenatal and postnatal cares to whanau who are unable to find a LMC. With a significant shortage of midwives in the Thames/Coromandel areas the Whanau Mai midwifery team are helping to close the gap and provide essential care in the community.

In this role you will run clinics from Thames and Paeroa and postnatally you will be required to provide in home visits.  Weekly meetings are organised with Thames Birth Unit staff Midwives for birth planning.

 

The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the MERAS Midwives Collective agreement. Additional benefits include kiwisaver contributions (if eligible), shift allowances, professional development and wellness support.

About you

  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
  • Registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand with a current annual practising certificate.
  • Have an up to date portfolio providing evidence of participation in the Midwifery Council’s recertification programme.
  • Committment to ongoing education and development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Hold a current full New Zealand driver licence.
