About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Registered Nurse who is ready to take the next big step in their career. This exciting role working with a small, dedicated team to coordinate the care of New Zealand’s heart and lung transplant patients.
This role involves communicating with multi-disciplinary teams of medical and allied staff at Te Toka Tumai – Auckland region, as well as with staff across different districts nationwide. You will also be responsible for ensuring that both patients and staff are educated about health management before, during, and after transplant. Therefore, we are seeking a superb communicator who brings excellent relationship-building skills and, ideally, has experience successfully leading training or facilitating learning. We anticipate the successful applicant will have joint responsibility for the VAD portfolio.
The day-to-day work will be relatively routine, involving conducting clinics and hospital rounds. However, when a transplant is underway, it’s all hands-on deck! You’ll be making and receiving a high volume of calls over several hours and coordinating multiple teams to ensure a successful operation. During this time, you’ll need to demonstrate a calm and clear manner, along with the ability to think quickly and clearly under pressure. Strong problem-solving skills are essential, including strategic thinking and anticipating potential issues.
As our ideal candidate you will be able to work to the on-call roster and be a master at prioritising your workload while effectively managing shifting priorities.
