About the Role

Reporting to the Associate Director, Te Pūriri o Te Ora, the Quality and Transformation Manager plays a critical leadership role within the Cancer and Blood Directorate. This position provides strategic and operational leadership across quality, compliance, transformation and equity, ensuring services consistently deliver safe, high‑quality, and culturally responsive care, particularly for Māori and whānau.

This role is central to Pou Ārahi, supporting the reinvention of cancer and blood services so they honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi, are underpinned by mātauranga Māori, and achieve equitable health outcomes. Working from a Māori worldview, you will influence system design, service planning, workforce development and continuous improvement across the directorate and wider health system.

As a member of the Directorate Leadership Team, you will lead a committed team of senior advisors, specialists and project staff, championing quality improvement, risk management, innovation and culturally safe practice across complex clinical and operational environments.

You are a trusted senior leader with the confidence, credibility and cultural capability to operate across Te Ao Māori, Te Ao Kāwanatanga and Te Ao Hou.

You will bring:

  • A strong commitment to equitable outcomes for Māori
  • A mature understanding of the Aotearoa health system and Te Tiriti obligations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement and transformation in complex environments
  • Confidence moving within te ao Māori settings, including tikanga and kawa
  • Proven experience influencing senior leaders, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • A track record of building capability, managing risk, and embedding sustainable change
  • Alignment with Te Mauri o Rongo and Te Toka Tumai values
  • You may identify as Māori or bring lived experience as an active Māori ally and advocate.
