About the Role
We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to join the General Ward / Emergency Department at Bay of Islands Hospital in Kawakawa. The main function of the role is to utilise professional knowledge and skill to provide a holistic approach to nursing care that is safe and of the highest quality possible.
This is for a part time, no fixed hours role working on an as and when available basis. These will be 8 hour shifts across AM, PM, nights and weekend shifts. We are also looking for candidates who are interested in fixed term roles working up to 32 hours per week.

About the Service and Location
The Bay of Islands Hospital is located in Kawakawa and provides care to the people of the Bay of Islands and the Mid North.
The 20-bed hospital provides comprehensive medical and paediatric services with all the supporting services and also provides a substantial community health service.

About you
Ideally, you will have experience in leading or contributing to projects and initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and frameworks, with a strong understanding of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply within healthcare settings.
- NZ Nursing Registration with a current practising certificate
- Recent clinical experience, ideally in a rural setting
- People orientated interests and demonstrated ability to practice in a culturally safe manner
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in an unpredictable and busy environment
It is essential you have competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or you show a commitment to begin your journey and taking ownership of learning and development in these areas.
