About the Role

The Adult Infectious Diseases Department provides support to over 1000 people with HIV in the northern region. This patient group includes a substantial number of people with a history of previous trauma, psychiatric comorbidity, substance addiction, or internalised stigma around their HIV diagnosis. These factors impact engagement in care, adherence to treatment, and quality of life. Having a psychologist on the team would make material improvements in the outcomes for our patients.

As the sole psychologist in the team, you will;

· Support the adjustment and rehabilitation of patients and whānau following a variety of physical health conditions, including new diagnosis of HIV, trauma, and substance addiction

· Undertake comprehensive psychological assessment and outcome-focused innovative care, applying evidence-based practice, interventions and education.

· Contribute collaboratively to our interdisciplinary team

· Contribute to quality and service improvements and development of team members

About you

To be successful, you must have:

· New Zealand registration as a Psychologist and have a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)

· Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent qualification.

· Experience in a physical health, sexual health, medical or rehabilitation setting

· Demonstrated an ability to work effectively in an inter-disciplinary team.
