About the Role
We have full time fixed term positions available for "on the job" training as a Provisional Cardiac Physiologist, to join our dynamic and dedicated team based at Auckland City Hospital.
Cardiac Physiologists are part of a multidisciplinary team working in a wide range of procedures to diagnose and treat cardiac disease. Te Toka Tumai Auckland Hospital offers both elective and acute care across a wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures for adult patients and provides the national service for paediatric and adult congenital heart disease patients.
The Training Programme
During the training programme you will rotate through various technical procedures and gain practical competency in a number of core cardiac measurement techniques. These procedures include ECG, Exercise Testing, Non Invasive Monitoring, Cardiac Catheterisation, and Pacemaker Follow-up testing.
Along with the practical training you will be required to successfully complete a post graduate diploma in Medical Technology offered extramurally through Otago University and the National Certification of Cardiac Physiologists via the Society of Cardiopulmonary Technology.

About you
To be eligible for this position, you will need to have the following:
- A Bachelor in Applied Science or BSC in Physiology (or equivalent)
- Keen interest in physiology and technology
- Excellent communication skills as you will be working closely with patients and other disciplines within Cardiology Services.
- New Zealand residency
- Good time management skills since the practical training as well as the additional qualifications required is a large workload
Upon successful completion you will be eligible to apply for a permanent Cardiac Physiologist position at any hospital within NZ. In this qualified position you will continue to develop your skills in a range of advanced procedures.
