The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Project Manager to join our RMO Workforce Operations team. This role will lead and support key projects that strengthen operational systems, improve processes, and enhance the experience and training programmes for RMOs across Auckland’s district hospitals.
Working as part of the regional Workforce Operations team, you’ll combine your project management skills with a hands-on understanding of operational delivery; ensuring recruitment, rostering, allocation, and daily workforce processes are well supported, consistent, and future-focused.
You may also act as a subject matter expert for operational systems (including RMO leave and rostering systems), supporting system development, data integrity, and staff training to improve how we deliver workforce services across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver operational improvement projects across Workforce Operations.
Develop and monitor project plans, risks, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
Prepare briefings, business cases, and governance updates.
Support the implementation of regional operational systems and workforce plans.
Provide subject matter expertise on systems and data quality.
Contribute to training, induction, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Workforce Operations teams.
Foster collaborative, high-trust relationships with clinical, operational, and HR/ER partners.
About You
You’ll be an organised, proactive professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and enjoys improving processes/systems that make a tangible difference to workforce wellbeing and service delivery.
You will bring:
A tertiary qualification in business, health, or project management (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in project management and delivery, ideally within the health or public sector.
Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
Excellent communication and report-writing ability, including developing proposals and business cases.
A working understanding of the health system and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pae Ora.
Why Join Us
This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping how we deliver consistent, high-quality workforce operations for RMOs across the Northern Region. You’ll be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team that values collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage you to bring your authentic self to this mahi. Skills are developed in many ways; through employment, community, or whānau responsibilities, so if you can demonstrate the capabilities we’re seeking, we’d love to hear your story.
