About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered Speech and Language Therapist to take on a six-month parental leave cover position as the Professional Lead for the Speech Language Therapy service. This role provides strategic and clinical leadership across inpatient, community, and paediatric services within Te Whatu Ora Te Matau a Māui.

As Professional Lead, you will:

  • Support the development and delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based practice
  • Provide clinical assurance and maintain high professional standards
  • Work closely with operational leaders to ensure equitable outcomes and high-quality care
  • Offer expert advice on workforce priorities, service design, and care pathways

You’ll play a key role in driving excellence in practice and championing the value of Speech Language Therapy across our services.

About you

You are a New Zealand-registered Speech Language Therapist with extensive clinical experience and proven leadership capability. You’re a strategic thinker, strong communicator, and team player with a commitment to quality, equity, and continuous improvement.

To be successful, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent)
  • A current NZ Annual Practising Certificate
  • At least 6 years’ experience in a healthcare or similar setting
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience
  • A sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in practice
