  • Casual Physiotherapist in Waikato District.
  • Exciting opportunity for a NZ registered physiotherapist to be part of our growing, dynamic Allied Health Team.
  • An overarching position involving aspects of physiotherapy practice in acute, outpatient, community and rural settings with opportunities to experience women's health, MSK, respiratory, pain, strength and balance, and community services depending on service need.
  • You could be required to work during school holiday periods, public holidays, weekends and to cover vacancies within the service.

About the Role

As a casual physiotherapist, you will be informed of where the cover will be needed and expected to pick up a caseload, prioritise, and see patients for new assessments or progressions of their programmes. The role is focused on the delivery of clinical care. You will be part of a fun physiotherapy team who are serious about the mahi.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Effectively prioritise, manage, delegate and see a full caseload of patients.
  • Effectively make decisions about the appropriate physiotherapy care and discharge pathways for the patients that you see.
  • Document your clinical encounters in accordance with our documentation standards and log your time in our patient statistics software.
  • Demonstrate professional attitude and commitment to the team and ensure effective communication occurs at all levels to achieve service objectives.

About the Team/Service

The Physiotherapy service has over 100 staff including Physiotherapists, assistants and administrators that work across the large geographical area that is Waikato region. We have staff based at Waikato Hospital, our other rural hospitals: Thames, Te Kuiti, Tokoroa and Taumaranui. We also have staff located at our many community bases throughout the Waikato District. Our vision is to provide quality physiotherapy care to promote, encourage and enable health, wellbeing and independence for the patients and whānau in the communities we serve. Our mission is to ensure that patients receive excellence of care, that our staff are supported and trained to work and maintain levels of evidence-based practice and that our service is equitable, efficient and effective in order to meet the needs of our patients and their whānau. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, supportive team who are keen to grow and develop our staff.

 

About you

The type of person we need in this role is the following:

  • You will have at least 3 years of experience in Physiotherapy.
  • You will be confident in Acute, outpatients and community settings.
  • Physically and mentally strong and able to work under pressure, be flexible and adaptable.
  • Proven ability to prioritise effectively and manage your time.
  • You are a dynamic team player that prioritises team, communicates openly, is transparent, takes your share of the caseload and delegates appropriately.
