About the Role
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be part of a digitally enabled pharmacy service that supports inpatient and outpatient care across Middlemore Hospital and satellite sites (including the Manukau Health Park).
Your work will include:
- Supporting the distribution of medications to Pyxis Automated Dispensing Cabinets on inpatient wards, ensuring safety, accuracy, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Dispensing medications to individual patients using the ePharmacy software system. Our system integrates with Pyxis and MedChart (electronic prescribing system).
- Supporting stock control, ordering, and inventory management using digital tools.
- Collaborating with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of medicines and optimal patient outcomes.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and fostering a culture of safety and innovation.
- An opportunity to work in more complex areas of the Inpatient Pharmacy in the future, when competency is demonstrated (e.g., processing Cytotoxic and Outpatient Antibiotic

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A New Zealand Pharmacy Technician qualification (Level 5 minimum).
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn systems such as Pyxis, MedChart, and ePharmacy.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- A strong sense of accountability and responsibility for your work.
- A good level of fitness, as the role is physically demanding.
- Openness to innovation and continuous improvement, including changes to systems, SOPs, or workflows
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equity in health outcomes.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
