About the Role
We are seeking a NZ-qualified Pharmacy Technician to join our dedicated community pharmacy team, Pharmacy on Meade, located right within the vibrant hub of the Waikato Hospital Campus.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a patient-focused team that consistently goes the extra mile to deliver exceptional care to both patients and hospital employees across the hospital.
You’ll be joining a supportive and friendly team of pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacy assistant at Pharmacy on Meade. Our dispensary is clinically focused due to the complexity and variety of prescriptions we handle, most of which originate from hospital wards and outpatient clinics. These often include specialised medicines, compassionate supply prescriptions, and NPPA prescriptions.
This role is ideal for a self-motivated technician who enjoys variety, is a confident problem-solver, and has a positive, can-do attitude. You’ll be expected to contribute across all dispensary services and interact regularly with the wider multidisciplinary hospital team—including doctors, nurses, and clinical specialists—making this a truly engaging and collaborative role.
Blister packing is minimal, allowing you to focus more on clinical and technical tasks that are both rewarding and intellectually stimulating.
Community pharmacy experience is essential as the dispensary team is also involved in the retail side of the business.
Key responsibilities:
- Dispensary based services
- Excellent customer service
- Involvement in provision of compassionate supply medicines
- A link between discharged patients and hospital teams.
- Ordering usual dispensary medications from regular suppliers and also specialised medications from specific suppliers in conjunction with other dispensary staff.
- Claiming dispensary batch in conjunction with other dispensary staff.
The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the Te Whatu Ora Allied, Public Health, Scientific and Technical Collective Agreement. Additional benefits include kiwisaver contributions (if eligible), shift allowances, professional development and wellness support.
