About the Role
We have a permanent full-time role available for a capable pharmacy technician. In this role, you'll provide pharmacy services to patients, working in a collaborative and supportive Pharmacy team.
Reporting to the Pharmacy Technician Team leader, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties including:
- Preparing and dispensing medications
- Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
- Non-sterile compounding of pharmaceuticals
- Medication distribution across the hospital
- Stock control and procurement
- Collaboration with healthcare teams
Our experienced pharmacy team is overseeing a growing service and is ready to support your development in various areas of hospital pharmacy practice. Specialty areas include oncology, working as a PACT Technician, and ward-based technician/pharmacist teams duties such as patient medication-history taking.
This position would be suitable for a trained pharmacy technician (NZ National Certificate in Pharmacy (Technician)), or a person who is currently training towards becoming a fully qualified Pharmacy Technician.
About the Team/Service
Health New Zealand – Taranaki’s Pharmacy Service is a collaborative and supportive department who provide safe and effective medication management across both Taranaki Base and Hawera hospitals. We uphold the highest standards in pharmaceutical supply, medicines safety, and clinical services, whilst constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care we deliver. Our staff work collaboratively in many multi-disciplinary teams across medical, nursing and allied health directorates with a shared focused on ensuring optimal patient-centred care.
Health New Zealand – Taranaki is also fortunate to have its dedicated eMedication management team who work closely alongside our Pharmacy department to lead medication management in the various data and digital platforms across the hospital.
About you
The successful applicant will be a team player, have excellent time management skills, hold a commitment to accuracy and continuous quality improvement, an ability to communicate effectively, and hold high standards of ethical and professional practice.
Ideally you will have experience working within a Hospital environment, and have an interest in continuing to develop your Pharmacy Technician skill-set.
