About the Role

We are seeking a pharmacist to join our dispensary and supply operations team. We will also consider an overseas-trained pharmacist undertaking New Zealand pharmacist APC registration processes, including an internship, if the right applicant presents.

This is a great role for a pharmacist who enjoys variety in their work, as tasks include working within our inpatient dispensary, clinical checking of inpatient medication charts, oversight of medicine supply and procurement activities and medication safety tasks. There is also potential to undertake work within our onsite community pharmacy when needed.

As a pharmacist with previous hospital experience or a pharmacist keen to expand their career into hospital pharmacy, you will work alongside a great team of pharmacists, technicians and assistants within our operations team. You will also be considered part of the larger team of pharmacy employees, which provide a range of services to Health NZ hospitals within the Waikato district and Te Manawa Taki region.

If an internship is required to transition into your role as a registered pharmacist, you will be supported by a preceptor pharmacist and will have the option of obtaining financial support through payment of training fees, with a bonded working agreement, ensuring continued employment for an agreed term.

Our pharmacy service incorporates a range of excellent services including hospital dispensary and supply operations, a Quality and Safe Use of Medicines team, an onsite cytotoxic compounding service, clinical trials, clinical services and own onsite community pharmacy (Pharmacy on Meade).

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Dispensary pharmacist roles such as clinical checking of medication charts, final checking of medicines and medicine supply processes
  • Involvement in procurement activities, providing pharmacist oversight and advice
  • Mentoring, coaching and supervision of pharmacy technicians and assistants
  • Key dispensary team liaison role with other pharmacists across the service

The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the Allied, Public Health, Scientific and Technical Collective Agreement. Additional benefits include Kiwi Saver contributions (if eligible), professional development and wellness support
