About the role
We have an exciting position for a Paediatric Dietitian. This is an Advanced Clinician role in paediatric diabetes and ketogenic diet therapy and is a permanent, part-time (0.6FTE) position.
The primary purpose of the role is to provide optimal nutritional care for babies, children and adolescent inpatients and outpatients with diabetes and those requiring a ketogenic diet. The Advanced Clinician Paediatric Dietitian is an Allied Health professional providing an advanced level of allied health care and expertise both in direct care delivery and support to other staff. The Advanced Clinician will work primarily in a specific area of practice with a focus on care delivery and will contribute to the profession through the local application of contemporary, evidence-based practice and policy that contribute to developing and implementing a high-quality service in the area of specialty locally and regionally.
About the team
This role is part of our dedicated team of 22 paediatric dietitians co-located with the Auckland City Hospital team of dietitians. Our team, which is part of Starship Allied Health, is driven by providing a high-quality clinical service across New Zealand, based at Starship Child Health.
About you
We are seeking someone with the following attributes:
- You will be a New Zealand registered dietitian and have a current Annual Practising Certificate
- A total of 6 years postgraduate experience including equivalent of four years full time experience within the area of specialty (paediatrics)
- Minimum of 2 years’ full time equivalent experience working with children with diabetes who use diabetes technology (insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring) and advanced carb counting
- Minimum of 2 years’ full time equivalent experience managing children using ketogenic diet therapy for the management of seizures
- An understanding of health care in New Zealand
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and clinical applications
- Intravenous nutrition prescribing credentialing and experience (desired)
- Experience in supervising students (desired)
- Clinical leadership training (desired)
