About the role

Our Paediatric Perioperative Cardiac Services has a New Role opportunity for an experienced Paediatric cardiac Theatre Nurse to lead the clinical activities and care coordination of paediatric cardiac patients within the OR setting

 As an experienced paediatric cardiac nurse, you will have responsibility for improving the quality of professional nursing practice and safeguarding high standards of care within the Paediatric Cardiac Operating Theatres

 You will report to the Paediatric Cardiac Charge Nurse and support the delivery of Transformational change within the Paediatric Cardiac Perioperative Service 

 About the Team

Our Paediatric Operating Rooms at Starship Child Health provides Acute Emergency Trauma and elective Surgical procedures in the paediatric specialties of General, Complex Neonatal, Thoracic, Urology, Endoscopy, Oncology, ORL, head and Neck, Dental, Spinal, Orthopaedics, Sarcoma, Plastics and cardiac including paediatric cardiac transplant.

This New role will support the Paediatric Cardiac and Adult Congenital Theatres across two directorates. Exceptional multidisciplinary interpersonal skills are needed to ensure the smooth clinical efficiency of the service and shared coordination of staffing resources across two Theatre Suites. This is an exciting time of change and opportunity to deliver a mokopuna and whanau centric paediatric cardiac service

 About you

As the ideal person for this role, you will:

  • Either have or be eligible for registration with NZ Nursing Council.
  • Be an experienced Perioperative Nurse with 5+ years of Operating Room experience with an extensive range of Theatre Nursing skills. Expert knowledge and experience in cardiac surgery is essential
  • Post Graduate qualification/masters of nursing preferred
  • Can support Transformational Change
  • Ability to educate, upskill and support new members of the paediatric cardiac team to scrub and circulate
  • Be able to provide senior clinical support, expertise, Nursing knowledge and leadership to your team to ensure quality patient care.
  • Have well-developed communication, critical thinking skills and a commitment to Mokopuna and Whanau centred care
  • Commitment to improving Maori health outcomes and embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Ability to develop collaborative working partnerships across a multidisciplinary team
  • Have a strong commitment to quality healthcare
