About the Role

This is more than just a transport role — it’s about supporting the care and wellbeing of our patients by ensuring the safe and timely movement of people, supplies, and equipment around Tauranga Hospital and the wider campus.  As an Orderly, your work underpins the daily function of multiple hospital services, from clinical care to logistics.

Your day will include transferring patients, handling medical equipment, and transporting vital goods. You will also be responsible for hospital vehicle driving duties, which may involve the use of manual and automatic cars, vans, or light trucks for on-campus and off-site deliveries.  A clean, full New Zealand Driver’s Licence is essential.

This is a physical, fast-paced role requiring both stamina and the ability to prioritise under pressure. You will need a sharp eye for safety, strong communication, and a team-first attitude.

About you

You will thrive in a busy, customer-focused environment where no two days are the same. With a motivated attitude to make a difference through service, flexibility, and teamwork. A high level of physical fitness is essential, as the role requires prolonged periods of walking, standing, and moving patients or equipment.

What you will bring:

  • Full clean NZ driver’s licence (including the ability to operate both manual and automatic vehicles).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A proven ability to work well under pressure and follow instructions.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks that involve prolonged standing and walking.
  • A strong customer service ethos and commitment to Health and Safety protocols.
  • Willingness to work weekends as part of your roster (Sunday – Monday).
