We are currently looking for a Team Leader who is clinically expert, passionate about improving equity and Oral health across the life span as well as providing leadership (In clinical partnership) with our experienced, supportive and well respected Oral Health Team.

About the Team/Service/ Location

This position exists to coordinate all Hospital and Specialist Services Oral Health programmes for tamariki, rangatahi, Hāpu Māmā and whānau across Tairāwhiti. We aim to improve equity, reduce inequalities and to lead in the Tairāwhiti Way of Working. For more information on living and working in Tairāwhiti click here

About you

As the Oral Health Clinical Team Leader you must have:

· NZ Registered Oral Health Therapist / Dental Therapist

· Minimum 5 years post graduate clinical experience

· Bachelor of Oral Health or Equivalent with a current annual practising certificate (without any conditions)

· A demonstrated passion for improving equity

· Demonstrated leadership/management experience in Oral Health service

· Has completed post graduate studies or is currently working towards a post graduate qualification

· Demonstrated ability to lead and implement positive changes in systems and processes

· Familiarisation with ‘good oral health for all, for life’ strategy and local vision

· Role models Tairāwhiti way of working daily

· Demonstrated ability to engage with whānau

· A thorough knowledge of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and a sensitivity to different cultures

· Analytical skills/Attention to detail but also able to see bigger picture

· Systems expert in health information systems

· Ability to share knowledge, skills, information and advice

· Ability to work alone, collaboratively and as part of a team

· Evidence of ability to develop and maintain local relationships

· Sound written, oral communication/presentation skills

· Current driver’s license

There is a shift to interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary approach, which identifies needs of whānau and the best people to provide support—requesting the right support at the right time in the right place. The workforce shares information, works flexibly and collectively to reduce barriers and provide the support that the whānau needs and requests. The transdisciplinary approach reduces barriers and improves access for whānau as teams walk beside people till they get what they need.
