About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented administrator to join our Oncology team at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital. This part-time role plays a vital part in supporting the delivery of cancer care services by ensuring that patient pathways are efficient and well-coordinated. You will be involved in booking and managing appointments, preparing clinics, and maintaining accurate and timely records. Your contribution will help ensure that patients and their whānau experience a smooth and compassionate journey through the cancer care system.

Our Oncology department is a dedicated, multidisciplinary team passionate about delivering high-quality cancer care to our community. We work closely with medical specialists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals in a fast-paced yet supportive environment. Our service is deeply committed to providing culturally responsive care that recognises the unique needs of all patients, particularly Māori and Pacific communities. Based in Hastings, you’ll enjoy working in a modern facility that values collaboration, continuous improvement, and holistic patient care.

About you

In this vital role, you’ll ensure the smooth running of oncology clinics by managing treatment schedules, referrals, clinic preparation, and outcomes. You’ll also provide general administrative support across the department, including relief reception duties, helping maintain continuity and efficiency.

We’re seeking someone with:

  • Proven experience in health administration
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality awareness
  • Proficiency in clinical and general software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • A positive, can-do attitude
