About the Role

Work across community and inpatient settings to support older people to maintain independence, safety, and wellbeing. As an Occupational Therapist Case Manager withing MHSOP, you will deliver assessment, intervention, and care coordination for Tangata Whaiora, providing psychoeducational groups, one to one support, and functional assessments that enable safe living within the community.

About the Team/Service/Location

The MHSOP Community Team in Tauranga works alongside the inpatient MHSOP ward and wider health partners to deliver coordinated mental health care for older people. The team is multidisciplinary, collaborative, and grounded in strong values, with an emphasis on partnership with whānau and community services. Based in Tauranga, the service supports a growing population while offering a balance of professional development and coastal lifestyle.

About You

You are an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in mental health, confident working with older people across both community and inpatient environments. You bring sound clinical judgement, a good understanding of mental health legislation, and the ability to assess capacity and support complex decision making.

What you will bring:

  • Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Minimum of three years postgraduate experience in mental health, preferably within older persons services
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and PPPR Act, including capacity assessment processes
  • Experience delivering therapeutic interventions and psychoeducational support
  • Ability to work across community and inpatient settings within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills with Tangata Whaiora and whānau
  • Full NZ driver’s licence
