About the Role 

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to be a part of our Allied Health Team within the Interim Care Service (ICS) at Health New Zealand – Waitematā. 

The Interim Care Service is primarily for patients who have presented with acute injuries or conditions that require a temporary admission to an ARC (Aged Residential Care) facility for a period of recovery and rehabilitation. 

The Occupational Therapy role involves working in conjunction with the ICS Charge Nurse Manager and an inter-disciplinary allied health team, providing rehabilitation to patients where immediate discharge is not achievable in the short term as a result of certain injuries, medical needs and/or environmental factors in their home eg. multiple stairs. 

Overall, this position will give you the opportunity to provide high quality, patient centred rehabilitation and care , and assist through the different transitions patients experience from inpatients to ICS, and eventually, back home.

About the Team/Service/ Location 

The Interim Care Service is based at North Shore Hospital, although it spans across a range of different ARC facilities both on the North Shore and in West Auckland, with opportunities to in-reach into the inpatient teams to support seamless transitions into ICS. 

About you 

Our ideal candidate will: 

  • Be a registered Occupational Therapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate 
  • Have 2+ years of post-graduate experience in an acute hospital setting/community setting 
  • Have a passion for high quality, patient-centred rehabilitation 
  • Be committed to team work and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration 
  • Have an ability to be flexible and adaptable within a busy, fast-paced work environment 
  • Be eager and willing to learn
