Nurse Unit Manager – Emergency Department and Acute Diagnostic Unit North Shore Hospital

Are you a dynamic and experienced nurse leader ready to take on a pivotal role in our Emergency Department and Assessment and Diagnostic Unit? We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Nurse Unit Manager to join our team and lead our services at North Shore Hospital.
About the Role: As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will be the professional and operational leader responsible for ensuring delivery of high-quality clinical practice and patient care. You will work in a shared leadership model, collaborating with the Emergency Medicine and General Medicine Clinical Directors, Operations Managers, and the Nurse Unit Manager at Waitakere Hospital. This role involves strategic planning, financial management, and people management to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of our services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborative Leadership: Partner with Clinical Directors and Operations Managers to enhance the Emergency Department and Assessment and Diagnostic Unit services and drive strategic initiatives.
- Financial Management: Oversee financial planning and budgeting, identifying opportunities to optimize the use of resources and enhance service delivery.
- People Management: Lead initiatives to motivate and develop the nursing workforce, ensuring high standards of performance and accountability. Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, and retention strategies, and support professional development and career planning. Foster a collaborative and supportive environment, working closely with the Nursing Development Service and Nurse Consultant Workforce Development to ensure staff are well-trained and motivated.
- Operational Management: Operationalise the core values of nursing and Waitemata by ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff. Provide collaborative, proactive, and dynamic clinical leadership and operational management, including managing staff, systems, and resources to support 24/7 quality service delivery and team functioning. Work in a shared leadership model with the Clinical Directors, Operations Managers, and other key healthcare professionals to meet key nursing, service, and divisional priorities and objectives, ensuring high-quality services for Emergency and General Medicine that meet the needs of patients and their families efficiently and effectively.

- You have experience in financial planning and budgeting.
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate your team.
