About the role

This is a fixed term exciting and rewarding senior nursing position. The role is responsible to the Ministry of Social Development contract, coordinating the health and education assessments for children in Oranga Tamariki care.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic and empathetic nurse with experience in working with children and young people and their families. An ability to work both within a multi-disciplinary team as well as working autonomously is vital. Your role will include becoming familiar with and have close collaboration with Oranga Tamariki and the Police, as well as other education and community agencies. Induction, training and skilled supervision will be provided by a dynamic, experienced and highly supportive multi-disciplinary team.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, good support systems, IT knowledge and an understanding of family centred care and bicultural practice and knowledge of Te Reo. There is an opportunity to be part of on an on call roster, covering week nights and weekends for sexual abuse.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Gateway clinic sits within Te Puaruruhau - a multidisciplinary unit for children and young people who have been identified as being at risk of abuse or neglect. The unit is located in Puāwaitahi, an internationally-recognised multi-agency centre where Health, New Zealand Police and Oranga Tamariki work together, located adjacent to Starship.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have completed New Zealand nursing registration
  • Hold a relevant Postgraduate qualification or Master’s Degree
  • Hold some knowledge in the areas of abuse, sexual and reproductive health, youth health and education
  • Have a clean and full drivers licence
