About the Role

The Nurse Educator plays a vital role in supporting the nursing Supported First Year of Practice transition plan for graduate RNs by delivering high-quality education and fostering clinical excellence. This position is responsible for promoting and facilitating evidence-based learning that enhances patient/tūroro/tangata whai ora outcomes and strengthens professional nursing practice.

You will be facilitating all newly graduated nurses to receive the appropriate clinical support for orientation and ongoing professional and practice development.

This role is for a fixed term opportunity, ending in August 2026.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Nursing Directorate provides leadership, advice and support to the Nursing staff of Te Tai Tokerau. The Directorate supports staff across the Northern region ensuring they are offered ongoing professional development, education and courses as required. Our team values respect, partnership, and a bicultural approach, working together to deliver excellence in healthcare for all.

About you

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse, with a passion for education and professional development. You will bring advanced clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and an ability to inspire and mentor others. Previous experience in project management and strategic planning is highly desirable, however not essential to apply.

  • Current New Zealand Practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse
  • Relevant post graduate diploma
  • Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP) at Proficient or Expert level
  • Current, full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
  • A personal commitment to ongoing learning and development
  • Practice assessment, appraisal and feedback skills
  • Commitment to biculturalism and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
