About the Role

This 12-month fixed term Fellow Position will provide clinical services to Kidz First Neonatal Care. 

The position provides a variety of clinical opportunities working in Neonatal Intensive Care, Neonatal Special Care, Post Natal Care and Neonatal Outpatient Clinic and Long-term Developmental Follow Up Clinics. As this is one of the biggest neonatal units in New Zealand, there are great opportunities to progress your skills clinically, in team and bed management, debriefing and breaking bad news and opportunities to develop bedside scanning skills,. Fellows are encouraged to partake in quality improvement projects, guideline development, education of junior staff and medical students and to present at grand rounds.  

The Fellow will progress to taking a more senior medical role including leading of ward rounds, handovers and clinical meetings. Depending on clinical experience and progress over the year they may step up to participate in the Neonatal SMO After Hours roster, with SMO back up.  

Excellent support and mentoring are provided during your time with us.

About you

·         Advanced Trainee of the RACP who are registered with the SACs in Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine or General Paediatrics. Eligible for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.  ·         Be a team player that can traverse across services and respectful of other disciplines

·         Demonstrate effective communication styles, critical thinking and striving to improve health inequities

·         A proven ability or competence in working with Maaori, Pacific and culturally diverse population is preferred
