Are you an experienced midwife ready to step into a clinical leadership role within a dynamic and growing maternity service? This is an exciting opportunity to lead and coordinate antenatal care within a supportive secondary care environment, where your expertise will directly influence safe, equitable and high-quality outcomes for birthing women, and whānau.
About the Team/Service/ Location
As the Midwife Specialist - Antenatal at Waitākere Hospital, you will lead and coordinate the care of women and pregnant women admitted for antenatal care, both acutely through day assessment and for ongoing inpatient management.
This role requires confident triage and clinical decision-making to ensure people receive timely, appropriate care while supporting the efficient use of resources. You will provide visible clinical leadership within the ward, support multidisciplinary collaboration, and promote best practice across the continuum of antenatal care. Your expertise will position you as a key clinical resource within the service, fostering excellence, equity and whānau-centred care.
About the Team/Service/Location
Waitakere Maternity is one of two secondary facilities providing care within the district, offering a collaborative environment committed to safe, equitable and culturally responsive maternity services.
This role is based at Waitakere Hospital.
About You
- As an experienced and respected midwife, you will bring strong clinical leadership and a commitment to equitable, culturally safe care.
- Registered Midwife with the New Zealand Midwifery Council and a current Annual Practising Certificate with no conditions
- QLP Leadership Domain
- Professional membership of NZCOM
- Minimum of 5 years’ midwifery experience, with experience across the continuum of care, particularly antenatal care
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and recognised as an expert practitioner
- Strong understanding of and commitment to Turanga Kaupapa and equitable care
- Confident using BadgerNet, GROW and other clinical information systems
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Post-graduate education is preferred
