About the Role:

Join Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau and lead one of Aotearoa’s busiest and most dynamic maternity services as a Midwife Manager in our Birthing & Assessment unit. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced senior midwife leader to shape service delivery, influence workforce development, and improve outcomes for whānau across our diverse communities.

As the Midwife Manager you will provide clinical, strategic, and operational leadership across the service. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality, and culturally responsive care for women and their families, while leading a large multidisciplinary team.

You will:

  • Lead the daily operations and long-term strategy for the B&A Unit
  • Provide visible leadership and professional guidance to midwifery staff
  • Drive equity-focused healthcare outcomes, particularly for Māori whānau
  • Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, and capability development
  • Ensure compliance with clinical quality, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Manage financial performance including budget planning and resource management

This role combines hands-on clinical leadership with strategic influence, making it ideal for a senior leader ready to make system-level impact.

About You:

  • NZ Registered Midwife with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • 8+ years experience in secondary/tertiary maternity care.
  • Proven leadership and/or management experience - ability to lead and coordinate a team.
  • Relevant Post graduate qualification preferred
